Protests cause Thai speech delay

Thailand’s new Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva has had to delay his opening speech to parliament due to anti-government protests.
Hundreds of protesters loyal to deposed leader Thaksin Shinawatra surrounded parliament on Monday, after tens of thousands also gathered on Sunday.
The demonstrators say Mr Abhisit has no mandate to lead and should resign.
He was elected in a parliamentary vote two weeks ago, after a court dissolved the former pro-Thaksin government.
Mr Abhisit is Thailand’s third prime minister in four months.
He now faces crowds of red-clad opponents on the streets who say they object to his route to power.

Die Universit盲t Rostock will von 2009 bis 2012 in 脺plingen (Sachsen-Anhalt) und Thulendorf (Mecklenburg-Vorpommern) genmanipulierte Kartoffeln anbauen.
Sie sollen Arzneimittel herstellen, zum Beispiel einen Kaninchen-Impfstoff. Anderen Kartoffelpflanzen wurden Teile des Cholera-Bakteriums eingebaut. Damit soll ein Impfstoff bzw. Impfstoff-Hilfsmittel erzeugt werden.
Eine dritte Linie der Gentechnik-Kartoffeln soll den plastik盲hnlichen Stoff Cyanophycin herstellen, der z.B. in der Bau- und Waschmittelindustrie genutzt werden k枚nnte.
